At our music school, we teach all styles of music, including classical, rock, pop, jazz, country, and more. Our highly experienced instructors tailor each lesson to meet the individual goals and interests of the student while ensuring a well-rounded learning experience for all levels, from beginner to advanced.

For Beginner Students

As a beginner, you’ll learn a variety of foundational skills that set the stage for a well-rounded music education. We incorporate your favorite songs into lessons, making the learning process fun and engaging. Within just a few weeks, you will:

Learn basic chords and melodies
Develop strong music theory knowledge
Build solid technique These essential skills are applicable to any piece of music you choose to play.

For Intermediate and Advanced Students

Intermediate and advanced students have the opportunity to study concepts more deeply and work on mastering personal musical goals. With the guidance of your instructor, you can:

Fine-tune your piano technique
Explore advanced music theory
Focus on specific genres or styles
Achieve proficiency in complex compositions

Convenient Locations and Virtual Options

Most lessons are taught in our central Austin studio, offering a comfortable and inspiring learning environment. We also offer virtual lessons via Zoom, allowing flexibility for students to learn from home. Additionally, recordings of Zoom lessons are made available after each session for review and practice.

I attended 2023 Texas Jazz & Blues Camp for the first time and I didn't know what to expect. I was the oldest, tallest student with the smallest instrument!. The experience and musicianship of the instructors was astonishing: we were getting tips on playing from Andre Hayward--a Jazz at Lincoln Center alum--and Don Braden, who blew with Herbie Hancock and Freddie Hubbard. The musical wisdom they passed on to us about constructing solos, honoring the melody, listening to each other, tips on practicing, and sage advice on how to approach playing jazz music, all that is priceless. I can say my five days at Texas Jazz Camp was inspirational...I'll be sipping from that spring for a long time.

My nine-year-old son has been taking violin and guitar from Mike for three years with New School of Music. It is unbelievable all he has learned! We could not be happier with the experience! Mike is very knowledgeable, patient and experienced with working with children.
